Killed in their sleep: First pictures of children who died in blaze that left eight dead at slumber party after fire inspector was turned away

A house ravaged by a fire which killed eight family members including six children had just one fire alarm and was overdue for an official inspection, it emerged today.

An inspection was scheduled for last month, but was cancelled after officials called at the house and found that only children were at home.

A seventh child is in a critical condition on life support and is set to be removed from his ventilator on Sunday morning

The only person to escape the burning building in Charleston, West Virginia was Latasha Isabell, who ran to a neighbor's home to call for help.
