Mint Hill police say a man called 911 around 9 p.m. claiming he was suicidal. The 911 operators then heard a gunshot in the background and the line disconnected.
Later, police say, the man called again. This time, he said he had children in the house. When officers got to the home, they say the man shot in their direction four times.
When he pointed his gun at officers they shot him.
