A doctor killed a former colleague in revenge for his dismissal from a residency program before shooting himself minutes later after being stopped by police.
Dr. Payman Houshmandpour, 32, a medical resident, was gunned down in his car on Wednesday morning by Giocondo Navek, 39.
The father-of-one was pulling out of his parking spot at an upscale apartment complex in a Philadelphia suburb on his way to work at Virtua health system.
Navek, 39, was waiting for the doctor to leave his home when he approached the car and fired several times. He then sped away in his own vehicle, said Jason Laughlin, a spokesman for the county prosecutor.
A neighbor provided a detailed description of the getaway vehicle, and when police stopped Navek about a mile away and ordered him to make his hands visible, he killed himself, Laughlin said.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
