A man who sexually abused his 11-year-old daughter who ended up pregnant was jailed for 10 years by a court in Groningen on Friday.
The girl gave birth to the baby unexpectedly while on a school trip. Now 13, she told the court she thought the abuse was normal fatherly behaviour.
During the police investigation it emerged the man had been convicted of raping an older daughter out of a previous relationship in 1995. However, the courts failed to look at his criminal record during a custody hearing when he was given responsibility for his youngest daughter after her mother disappeared.
