Woman who plunged 1,000ft to her death on very first hang glider trip 'grabbed desperately at instructor's feet' as she slipped from harness

The young woman who plummeted 1,000 feet after falling from a hang glider this weekend grabbed desperately at her instructor's feet in a futile attempt to save her self as she slipped out of her harness, it emerged on Sunday.

Lenami Godinez, 27, was trying hang gliding for the first time when the accident occurred Saturday afternoon on Woodside Mountain in British Columbia, Canada. She was flying next to a professional instructor, whom she and her boyfriend had hired to take her up soaring above the trees.

Authorities are blaming either pilot error or equipment failure in the horrifying death. She was found seven hours after she fell, and one of the instructor's shoes was discovered 60ft away from her body.
