A Kansas City man was charged today in last week’s shooting death of another man inside a Northeast area house.
Jackson County prosecutors charged James N. Rhymer, 28, with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the April 19 killing of James Conklin, 27.
Rhymer allegedly shot Conklin during an argument inside a house in the 400 block of N. Wheeling Avenue.
According to court documents, Conklin was talking to a woman in the home when Rhymer, carrying a gun, walked in with two other men and said, “We have problems.” Rhymer allegedly said he was upset at Conklin for “disrespecting” his family and because Conklin no longer was welcome at the house, according to the court documents.
Conklin then began to “taunt” Rhymer by saying he wasn’t going to shoot him. Rhymer then walked toward him and began firing, according to the allegations.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
