Investigation launched after body of schoolgirl, 14, is found on railway line

A 14-year-old schoolgirl has died after plunging off a railway bridge on to high voltage power lines. The girl's body was discovered on the railway track by a train driver as he was about pull away from Berkhamsted station in Hertfordshire.

It is unclear whether she had deliberately jumped from the bridge or whether she fell by accident. The discovery of the girl's body yesterday caused rail officials to halt trains from Euston as police officers began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
