A son who strangled his frail 81-year-old mother and kept her decomposing body in his home like the killer in the horror film Psycho was jailed for eight years today.
Thomas Quinn, 51, said his mother Philimena had begged him to end her suffering day in and day out so he killed her with a dressing gown cord in what he claimed was a 'mercy killing'.
He left her on her bed and carried on as if nothing had happened for six weeks, the Old Bailey heard.
