The father turned up at the district school in the town of St. Poelten, west of Vienna, during morning classes, dragged his son to a cloak room and shot him at close range.

Police launched an immediate and massive manhunt, fearing the 37-year-old suspect might target his daughter, who attended the same school as her brother, or his wife.
But the search was called off an hour after the shooting when his body was found in an upturned car on a road leading out of town.
A police spokesman said the man, who has not been named, had shot himself in the head although it was unclear whether he had fired before or after the car crash.
