PORTERVILLE, Calif. -- Authorities in Tulare County have arrested two men on suspicion of beating a horse with a sledgehammer.

Deputies found a white horse tied down to a flatbed trailer in the driveway of a home. It was suffering from head trauma, but was still alive.
Sheriff's officials say Animal Control was contacted, and the horse was euthanized.
