OTTAWA - Joel Gauthier was doing what he loved when he was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm on Friday evening. On Saturday, he passed away.
Gauthier, 18, was biking through Ottawa's Vincent Massey Park with a female friend when they stopped to put on rain gear under a tree around 7 p.m. Gauthier and the tree were hit by lightning.
He went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics treated Gauthier and rushed him to hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
