Homeowner fatally shoots intruder in north Houston

A grand jury will consider the case of a homeowner who shot and killed an intruder in north Houston late Saturday night.

The shooting occurred about 11:45 p.m. after the power went out at a home in the 500 block of Reid.

One of the residents went outside to check the breaker box and was confronted by an armed man, said Houston Police Department spokeswoman Jodi Silva.

Meanwhile, the homeowner shot a second man who entered the house, Silva said. That man was taken to an area hospital, where he died of multiple gunshot wounds, she said.
