Three children dead and 24 pulled from water after yacht capsizes off Long Island while revellers watch July 4 fireworks

Three children have died and 24 other people have been pulled from the water in a fraught overnight rescue mission after the yacht they were on capsized during July 4th celebrations. David Aurelino 12, Harley Treanor, 11, and eight-year-old Victoria Gaines were found in the sunken boat's cabin near Long Island's Oyster Bay - around 35 miles from New York City. Their tragic deaths came after the group of 27 were thrown into the water while watching fireworks from aboard the 34-foot Silverton vessel. Authorities are still investigating what caused the accident, but believe it could have been due to weather, overcrowding on the yacht or a wave from the wake of another boat.
