A Jordanian man died after setting himself on fire on Thursday morning in apparent despair over having been fired from his job last week, police and a colleague said.
The 31-year-old man, identified only as Musaab, had been sacked by the Jordanian Central Electricity Generating Co.
He "set himself on fire this morning outside the firm's headquarters in the Khalda area in western Amman," police spokesman Mohammad Khatib told AFP. One of the man's former co-workers said "he had a fight with his boss a while ago.
Ten days ago, the company terminated his contract. He tried to convince the management to return to work, but he failed and killed himself today."

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
