A pensioner who killed his wife in a suspected murder suicide was a retired police officer and fireman who spiralled into depression when he suffered a bad back, it emerged today.
Ronald Pearmain, 66, was found dead with the body of his wife Christine Pearmain, 64, on Friday afternoon at their home in Bishop’s Stortford, Herts.
Police are investigating the possibility that Christine, known locally as Chris, was stabbed in the chest by her husband before he killed himself by taking a deadly substance.
