A Rotorua man was impaled on a fence today after falling from a ladder.
Emergency services were called to a house in Rotorua about 2.40pm today after the contractor man, who was painting the house, fell from his ladder and became impaled on a fence through his upper thigh.
Police, along with firefighters, paramedics and animal control officers were called to the house.
A Fire Service spokesman said the Fire Service was called as "manpower" to help get the man off the fence.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
