81-year-old woman, 50-year-old son found dead in apparent murder-suicide

YOKOHAMA — Police said Thursday that an 81-year-old woman was found strangled to death in her home in Yokohama on Tuesday night. Police believe Yoshiko Komaki was killed by her 50-year-old son who was also found dead, having hung himself, TBS reported. According to police, at around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police received a call from Komaki’s medical care giver stating that she couldn’t contact Komaki. Police arrived at Komaki’s house shortly thereafter to find her lying dead on the floor with a towel wrapped around her neck in a room on the first floor. In the same room was the body of the Komaki’s son Takeshi, who had hung himself, TBS quoted police as saying. According to police, the room in which the two bodies were found showed no signs of a struggle. Furthermore, there was no evidence of a break-in from the outside.
