Killer who mutilated two women fights deportation from UK...by claiming right to a family life

Right...?! Wrong...

A double murderer from Italy is fighting the Home Secretary’s decision to send him home to serve his prison sentence by claiming he has the right to a family life in England. Hair fetishist Danilo Restivo was jailed for life two years ago for the horrific murder of neighbour Heather Barnett, 48, in Bournemouth. He bludgeoned her with a hammer, cut her throat and mutilated her body before leaving a clump of someone else’s hair in her hand. Months after his conviction, he was convicted in his absence in Italy for a similar ritualistic slaughter of a 16-year-old girl in his home town of Potenza 20 years ago. Restivo, 41, was told he must serve at least 40 years before being considered for parole in the UK. This minimum term would cost taxpayers nearly £2million to keep him behind bars. But Theresa May has now issued a deportation order so he can be transferred immediately to an Italian jail. Restivo has appealed against the order and will argue at an immigration court hearing that he has the right to a ‘family and private life’ under Article Eight of the European Convention on Human Rights. His lawyers even tried in vain to have the special immigration court, scheduled to be held in Bradford in April, take place in secret to protect Restivo. The killer has a wife living in Bournemouth, more than 200 miles from his high-security jail at Full Sutton, near York.
