Amazing photos of snake attacking crocodile, winning... and then swallowing it whole!

t was one of the most astonishing battles in the animal world - when a snake decided it was going to swallow a whole crocodile for lunch. If it seems an impossible notion, these photos show the astonishing result as the snake slithered slowly away with the crocodile filling its body. Local woman Tiffany Corlis saw the snake, a python, heading towards the freshwater crocodile on the edge of Lake Moondarra, some 12 miles north east of Mount Isa, in outback Queensland, reported the ABC.

Indian murderer is caught after victim's pet bird identifies the killer

An Indian journalist managed to catch the person who killed his wife after getting a tip off - from their pet parrot. Vijay Sharma, the editor of a Hindi daily newspaper in Agra in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, returned home to find both his wife Neelam Sharma, 45, and her pet dog, had been murdered. The only survivor was Hercule the pet parrot, but he had been stunned into silence after witnessing the horrific killings. The house had also been ransacked and jewellery and cash stolen. Police had no obvious leads, but that changed when Vijay's nephew Ashutosh visited their house after the murder. Mr Sharma said: 'The parrot that was unusually quiet suddenly started shrieking and flapping around the cage. 'It was clearly distressed about something and only calmed down when Ashutosh left. 'Then when I spoke to other people, every time I mentioned Ashutosh's name the parrot would start screeching. 'This made me really suspicious and I decided to call the police.'

Deadly virus that has killed hundreds of lambs and calves on UK farms 'has spread to every county'

A killer virus blighting lambs and calves has spread across the country, infecting the majority of farms, experts said yesterday. Schmallenberg virus, which has already killed hundreds of lambs and calves or caused them to be born with serious deformities, has been detected in every county in England and Wales. Those figures are now expected to rise into the thousands as the new lambing season begins. The disease has been discovered on 976 British farms, compared with 276 in August.
