Bill Murray leads the tributes for Ghostbusters co-star Harold Ramis, as he dies age 69

Actor Bill Murray has paid tribute to Harold Ramis following news he has passed away at the age of 69 after a long illness. 

Speaking to Time Magazine Murray, who famously starred with Ramis in Ghostbusters, said: ‘Harold Ramis and I together did the National Lampoon Show together off Broadway, Meatballs, Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day.

He concluded his tribute to Ramis, who died from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, saying: ‘He earned his keep on this planet. God bless him.’

With his mesmeric blue eyes and mercurial manner, Peter O'Toole took the film world by storm in 1962 as the eponymous hero of David Lean's Oscar-winning epic, Lawrence of Arabia. The role seemed tailor-made for the then 30-year-old actor and thrust him into the superstar bracket, where he was to remain for the rest of his life. He was born in 1932, though where, exactly, remained a mystery, even to O'Toole himself.

The movie was directed by James Sibley Watson and Melville Webber. A music score was written in 1959 for the film by Watson and Webber's friend, composer Alec Wilder.

Star Wars make-up maestro 'will live forever in characters he created': Artist behind Yoda, Superman and The Omen dies at 98

Stuart Freeborn, one of the greatest make-up artists in Hollywood history, has died aged 98. The 'maestro' of film make-up created the Star Wars characters Chewbacca and Jedi master Yoda, and worked on dozens of huge hits including Superman, Alice in Wonderland, Dr Strangelove and The Omen. Largely self-taught, Freeborn resisted his insurance broker father's attempts to have him follow in his footsteps and instead went on to create make-up and prosthetics for such cinematic legends as Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers. He said in a documentary last year: 'I didn't want to spend my life in an office. I felt I was different.'
