Woman 'hacks grown-up disabled daughter to death and burns her body on the barbecue'

A teacher has been accused of hacking her disabled daughter to death and then burning her body on a barbecue. Wheelchair-bound Magdalena Nunyango Amunyoko, who was born with a condition that restricted her body functions, was allegedly murdered at the home she shared with her mother in the town of Ongwediva, in northern Namibia. The charred remains of the 26-year-old’s badly burnt body were discovered by her brother on Saturday morning.

A jury in North Carolina handed down the death penalty Thursday to Jonathan Douglas Richardson, 25, who they convicted of murdering his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter. During the trial, it was revealed that Richardson tortured little Teghan Skiba for 10 days while his girlfriend of six months was on a trip - physically and sexually abusing the girl as well as strangling her with a power chord. Richardson brought the girl to Johnston Medical Center in July 2010, telling doctors she fell off her bed. But medics found signs of much more serious trauma, as her body was covered in bruises and bite marks.

Four-year-old Zachary Dutro-Boggess passed away in August 2012 after being beat so severely his intestines tore. On Wednesday, a jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding mother Jessica Dutro guilty of all charges related to Zachary's death - including murder. Dutro's boyfriend Brian Canady, 25, participated in the beating but escaped murder charges by taking a plea deal. By agreeing to testify against his girlfriend, Canady had the more serious charges against him dropped and be pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault. Man, 23, jailed for raping 92-year-old woman

The attack took place on Christmas Eve in the woman's home in Skaraborg County, western Sweden. The man attempted to initiate intercourse with the elderly woman by assaulting and threatening her, but she managed to lock herself in the bathroom, at which point the man left the premises. He returned soon after, however, and found the woman alone in her bedroom. He then raped her in "a particularly reckless manner", according to the prosecution. The 23-year-old was arrested soon after and charged with, among other things, aggravated rape. He was subsequently referred for a psychiatric assessment after which it was concluded that the man was not suffering from any serious mental disorder at the time of the rape.

Iwao Hakamada, 78, a former professional boxer convicted of the 1966 murder of a family, has spent the last 45 years behind bars on death row, a Guinness World Record – including 30 years in solitary confinement waiting to die. The court ordered a retrial for Mr Hakamada - who was sentenced to death in 1968 but not executed because of a lengthy appeals process - although the prosecution has four days to decide whether it will appeal the decision. According to local media, Mr Hakamada was released from Tokyo Detention House for the first time in decades at around 5pm today, Japanese time.
