An alleged voodoo worshipper accused of beheading a Kansas man with a guitar string has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. Topeka police say James Paul Harris, 29, ghoulishly severed the head of 49-year-old James Gerety in 2011 before packing it away in a draw-string bag to talk to, the Topeka Capital-Journal reports. Gerety's partial remains were found a year later in Carbondale, about 18 miles south of Harris' home. Harris' former girlfriend, Bobbie Williams, testified last month that he used the wire string as a garrote to decapitate Gerety after first shooting him in the stomach and torturing him for two days. A police detective also testified that Williams told him Harris practiced voodoo and liked to talk to the head he kept in the canvas bag.

Dead chickens and a goat found dumped in Washington, DC park as part of 'ritualistic animal sacrifice'

Fan Murders Black Metal Singer for Allegedly Being a False Satanist

I’m not familiar with the Thai black metal band Surrender of Divinity, although I know Grim Kim is a fan; in any case, their 36-year-old vocalist, Samong Traisattha, was murdered last Wednesday, January 8, according to The Bangkok Post. The murderer is believed to be a fan named Prakarn Harnphanbusakorn, who Samong Traisattha’s widow, Jaruvan Surapol, says came to the house Wednesday night “to have some shirts screen-printed and to have a drink.” She went to put their child to bed; when she came back to the living room, she found her husband lying on the floor, dead, in a pool of his own blood, and Prakarn gone.

And this would obviously be horrible in and of itself no matter what, but the story has a even more unsettling twist: while the police continue to search for Prakarn, a Facebook user calling himself ”Maleficent Meditation” is claiming credit for the murder, and authorities believe that it is, indeed, legitimate. The page includes some incredibly graphic photograph’s of Samong Traisattha’s corpse, a description of how Prakarn stabbed Samong thirty times while the vocalist begged for his life, as well as an explanation as to his motive for the murder:

 “I have intended to end my life since I was 25. Because I’ll die eventually, I want to drag down those who tarnish Satanism with me. But I refrained from killing women and children…In my view, I have more respect for devoted Buddhists, Christians and Muslims than those who call themselves Satanists without knowing anything about it… If I did not kill him, I’m sure he would be murdered by someone else later… above all else, Satan is not a toy. Do not call yourself a Satanist if you do not believe in Satan!!!” 

So, basically, this was a religious murder, no different from any other violent crime committed in the name of the believer’s supreme deity of choice. What an incredible waste of life.

The man, Hadden Clark, a cross-dressing cannibal killer convicted in Maryland of two murders, was looking for the graves of two women he claimed to have buried nearly two decades ago. The woods, located in the town of Wellfleet, were part of a 7.3-acre property once owned by his grandfather, Silas Clark. Though Clark grew up in Pennsylvania, the alleged serial killer spent his summers in Wellfleet where he worked in restaurants. Clark also met with authorities in Meriden, Connecticut, where he claims to have buried another body around 1980 in a family property owned by his maternal grandfather Maynard Scranton. According to Maryland prison authorities Clark told a fellow inmate whom he believes is Jesus Christ that he killed as many as a dozen women and girls along the Eastern Seaboard between the mid-70s and 1993, the year he was arrested.

A Phoenix man did the unthinkable – he hacked his 13-year-old son to death with an axe. Gary Sherrill, 51, told police he killed his son Tuesday because he ‘believed his son was a demon and was going to eat him,’ police said. The deranged man was arrested and charged with first degree murder for a killing that has shocked even veteran police. The horrific crime was discovered after the boy’s mother called police to check on the young boy after Mr Sherrill (her ex-husband) was late bringing him back from a visit and she was unable to reach them by phone. Phoenix police arrived at the unemployed man’s gritty apartment on the city’s north side and initially met resistance, a neighbor told ABC 15. The killer told officers the boy was not home, that he was a good guy, said Divina West, adding that he said he was a boy scout leader and that he wouldn’t hurt children. ‘But obviously he did,’ she lamented.
