A teenager murdered an acquaintance with a kitchen knife in front of a toddler after saying that rap music made him 'want to stab somebody', a court heard. The 16-year-old, who can not be named for legal reasons, is accused of launching an unprovoked attack on Fico Dougan, 17. The fatal stab wound was inflicted with such force that it entered through his chest, passed through a chest bone and emerged from his back, the Old Bailey heard yesterday. Fico died of a stab wound to the heart soon after the attack on September 25 last year, which took place in front of a two-year-year girl at a house in Croydon, south London, the court was told. The accused teenager's defence barrister argues the killing was triggered by post-traumatic stress disorder following the death of his much-loved brother.

Martin Hicks, prosecuting, told the court that the alleged murderer and Fico knew each other but 'there was no known hostility'. The pair had both been at the house of a 19-year-old woman on the afternoon of the killing, and she, the defendant, and Fico's girlfriend Montana Riley were watching television with the woman's two-year-old sister. Mr Hicks said: 'The defendant was listening to music on his headphones. He was heard to say words to the effect of, "When I listen to rap music I want to stab somebody".’ Soon after, Fico tapped at the window and was let into the house by Miss Riley and joined the group watching TV, the jury was told. Fewer than ten minutes later, the defendant rose from his seat and walking to the kitchen with what Miss Riley described as 'a vague stare'. Mr Hicks told the court: 'He burst back into the room and he was holding a kitchen knife. Without any warning and with no good reason he proceeded to attack Fico.' The court heard the defendant remained completely silent as he tried to stab Fico at least six times while Miss Riley frantically attempted to stop him.

Pennsylvania woman claims she heard 'crazy voices' telling her to push her sons underwater before she sat on the boys in the bathtub, drowning her 3-year-old son and leaving his 6-year-old brother in critical condition. Laurel Schlemmer, 40, of McCandless, is being held without bond after she was arraigned early Wednesday on charges including criminal homicide, aggravated assault and child endangerment. Schlemmer told Allegheny County detectives she tried to drown her two youngest sons, 6-year-old Daniel and 3-year-old Luke, after her 7-year-old son left for school Tuesday morning.

She put the older boy on his school bus at about 8.40am, then told the younger boys to take off their pajamas and get into the bathtub. 'Schlemmer said after the boys got into the tub she got into the tub "fully clothed" and "crazy voices" were telling her to push the boys down into the water,' the complaint said. 'Schlemmer explained that at one point she [was] sitting on top of boys while they were under the water in the tub.' The detectives said Schlemmer went on to say that she 'thought she could be a better mother' to the oldest boy 'if the other two boys weren't around and they would be better off in heaven.'

Mother jailed for life for battering her baby boy to death then posing for a selfie next to him

A mother who took a selfie with the battered body of the 11-month-old son she had beaten, causing him to suffer brain damage which later caused his death, was jailed for 14 years today. Emma Wilson repeatedly hit baby Callum so violently her neighbour's ceiling shook. She then blamed the attack on his two-year-old brother, the Old Bailey heard. Today she was jailed for life and told by the judge she must serve a minimum of 14 years in prison. Judge Stephen Kramer QC told her: 'You are adept at lying and displayed a total lack of emotion throughout the trial. 'You must have been the person who caused his injuries.'

He added: 'You were clearly a good mother to your other son but for some reason you rejected Callum and acted against him. 'Callum was vulnerable and you must have been the person who caused him the injuries which in the last 10 to 14 days of his life made him so miserable which the court saw in photographs, that for some reason you took.' Callum was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with 'catastrophic injuries' on March 20, 2011. A post mortem revealed the 11-month-old had suffered fatal brain damage, as well as nine fractured ribs, a broken leg and arm.
