SURRY COUNTY, N.C. -- Two Pilot Mountain residents posed as police officers to steal prescription drugs from a Pinnacle man, Surry County Sheriff Graham Atkinson said Tuesday.

Police said Christopher William Fosner, 36, knocked on the man's door at about 11 p.m. last Thursday and told him and his grandson that there had been reports of drug dealing at the residence.

"The grandson opened the door and (the suspect) was standing there holding a gun. He was wearing a dark toboggan and shirt with the word 'POLICE' on them," Atkinson said. "(The suspect) told the homeowner he needed to look at his pills, which were painkillers and valium, and the victim told the man that they were in his gun safe."

Meanwhile, the man's son, who was on his way to his father's house, noticed a pickup truck parked nearby and asked a woman inside if she needed assistance, Atkinson said.

Atkinson said the woman told the him that she was there conducting police business.

When the man arrived at his father's house, he found his father tied up.

Atkinson said Fosner had stolen seven long guns and three bottles of prescription medication.

"(The suspect) said he was going to his vehicle to run the serial numbers on the guns," Atkinson said, "then he didn't come back."

Deputies are searching for Fosner and his girlfriend, Summer Denise Eanes, 29. Both were identified by the victim's son after he described the woman and deputies showed him mug shots, Atkinson said.

Atkinson said deputies executed a search warrant at the couple's home on Saturday but weren't able to located the couple or any evidence related to the crime.

Warrants have been drawn charging both with robbery with a dangerous weapon, impersonating a law enforcement officer, felony larceny, larceny of firearms and first-degree burglary. Fosner is also charged with two counts of assault by pointing a gun.

Atkinson said both should be considered armed and dangerous.
