Two dead, one injured in arson-murder case

FUKUOKA — A woman was killed and her husband injured by a man who attacked them with a knife and burned down their home in Chikujo, Fukuoka Prefecture on Saturday, police said. The survivor of the blaze, 65-year-old Toshiyuki Yamamoto was taken to hospital for deep lacerations on his left wrist and neck, TBS reported Monday. One eyewitness told reporters that the cuts to his wrist were so deep that his hand had almost been severed. As he was being taken to hospital, Yamamoto reportedly told emergency workers that he and his wife had been attacked by a man in their home, police said. From the burned remains of the house, police recovered the body of Yamamoto’s 64-year-old wife Tomiko, who died after having her throat cut, they said. Police also recovered the remains of a man, believed to be their attacker, who burned to death in the fire.
