A paedophile who lured a young boy to his flat by decking it out like a horror film set was facing a lengthy prison sentence today.
Simon Walford sexually abused the youngster in grotesque surroundings featuring dolls and figures from popular films.
Surrounded by images from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Silence Of The Lambs and Child's Play, the twisted 39-year-old attacked the youngster after showing him a film.
The prosecution photographs of his flat in Horrock Street, Blackburn, Lancs., showed it was 'grotesque, remarkable and extraordinary'.
There were large and small dolls and the police even found a Freddy Krueger-style dummy.
At a sentencing hearing which began yesterday, it was revealed that Walford had 76 previous convictions and was banned from contact with under-16s when the offences took place.
Bob Elias, prosecuting, said 'We suggest it was designed to entrance, beguile and entrap adolescent children.
'The flat was dressed as a set, as a trap, really to beguile children. There were gaming machines and electronic equipment.
'It almost makes the hairs on the neck stand up.'
The pornographic film was of adults having sex. While watching it, Walford started to touch himself sexually.
The defendant went on to touch the boy over his clothing. He told him he was doing it so that when he met girls he would know what to do, said Mr Elias.
Other sexual activity also took place. Walford told the youngster 'What goes on in the flat stays in the flat'.
His parents were devastated by what happened. The boy himself was described as having been difficult and awkward since matters came to light.
Walford denied everything following his arrest. In May last year, police concerns had led to them applying for a sexual offences prevention order.
Mr Elias added 'The Crown would say the defendant has revealed himself to be a career paedophile, by his behaviour and film set, equipment in his home, as well as the grooming, corruption and warnings.'
Walford has 76 previous offences on his record, including a 30-month sentence in 2003 for molesting a ten-year-old boy.
In that instance, boys had also been enticed into his home.
Walford was convicted of five charges - two of sexual activity with a child, one of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and another of breaching a sexual offences prevention order.
The cowardly defendant refused to come up from the cells for the hearing yesterday.
The sentencing exercise before a judge at Preston Crown Court continues today.
