A woman was indecently assaulted in Glasgow's city centre after getting into a car she thought was a taxi.
The woman climbed into a blue car in the early hours of Thursday morning on Renfield Street.
The driver drove to the east end and indecently assaulted her. Strathclyde Police said that the woman was extremely distressed by the incident.
Detective constable Graham McCreadie said: "This has been a very frightening ordeal for this woman and she is extremely upset. It's possible this man has approached other women, pretending to be a taxi driver, and I would urge them to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency as they may have additional information which could assist our enquiry. It's imperative we trace the man responsible."
The woman was picked up outside the Bistro kebab shop.
The driver was Asian, in his 30s and had a moustache. The car did not have taxi plates.
Officers warned people to ensure they always used a licensed taxi and to plan their journey home in advance where possible.
They also recommended customers asked drivers for identification.
