FAWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- An argument between two brothers Wednesday ended with one fatally shooting the other in York County.

Justin Carbaugh, 21, is in York County Prison. He turned himself in to state police Thursday after admitting to shooting and killing his brother with a handgun Wednesday night. He told police "I'm giving myself up."

Court documents state the body of Justin Carbaugh's older brother, Brandon Carbaugh, was found wrapped in a tarp in the woods near the family's Fawn Township home.

Police said his body had three bullet wounds and they also said Justin Carbaugh first tired to cover up the crime by hiding his brother's body and attempting to dismember it. Police said he cut off his fingers with hedge trimmers and severed his left leg below the knee with an ax.

Investigators found the body parts nearby in a plastic bag.

"The brothers walked out toward a field and eventually entered into a wooded area. Once they entered the wooded area, the defendant removed a firearm that he had in his possession and shot his brother multiple times in the upper torso area," said Trooper Tom Pinkerton.

Court documents also reveal Justin Carbaugh tried to burn some items, including the ax, the hedge trimmers and his brother's clothing.

Carbaugh faces charges of criminal homicide, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and abusing a corpse.

News 8 also looked into Justin Carbaugh's history. The only offense News 8 found was a harassment charge from 2005. Carbaugh pleaded guilty to that summary offense and paid $408.50 in fines and costs.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
